Using American debit card in Europe?

I’ve a Visa debit card, and if I’m right, I should be able to use it over there just fine.
How about the PIN number, when the ATM asks for PIN, do I put the same PIN I put here in the U.S.?

in addition to notifying your bank of your travel plans as others have stated, ask your bank if they have partnerships with any of the banks in the county(ies) you’ll be visiting. sometimes banks have partnerships overseas so you might be able to make withdrawals without the international transaction fees from your bank. make sure the bank lets you know all fees you’ll incur if you don’t use their sister banks. it’ll save you some money!
