Do u have to be 18 to cross the border…??

with out a parent??

my friend and I live in washington and want to go to canada for the day to go clothes shopping! If we have our pasports and we are only 17, can we cross the border with out parents??

Yes you can cross the border with out your parents, but you will both require a notarized letter from your parents giving you permission to cross the border. The letter should state where you are going, how long you are staying, where you will be crossing and when you will be back as well as have all their contact information, as well as the phone number they will be at when you are crossing, just in case there are any questions.

As well if you are driving and the vehicle in not in either of your names it is a good idea to get a letter stating that you have permission to drive the vehicle into Canada etc.
