immigration non profit organizations

How do I get a license to be able to do immigration work?
I have been working for a non profit organization that deals with Immigration. Even though am not a lawyer, I have recieved countless of trainings in this area and have a very relevant resume. I recently applied for another job and the employer seem very pleased with my expirience, however he needs me to get some sort of license from immigration to be able to work in his office, this is totally new to me since the organization i worked with before for was already registered with imigration.
