Hello I was granted asylum status in 2002 under my Ex-Husband. We divorced and I unknowingly lost my asylee status.
Now I am remarried to a US citizen and filed for an adjustment through the marriage. However, I lost my passport and
i-94 proof of entry and am being asked to prove lawful entry to the states. I was give 90 days to brandish this proof and
am afraid that I cannot since the information act and the embassy in the Philippines has not yet responded to my requests
to provide this information (I’m not sure that they’ll even be able to since the entry was in 1995). Will they deport me?
If so, how long will it be until I am able to come back lawfully and will I have the option to become a permanent resident?
If not, what other option do I have to get my green card? – Add additional information
the previous answer is correct. plus, they have their own data system that covers entries and exits that they could access and look it up. did you come in on a tourist visa or as the spouse of an asylee? wouldn’t hurt to get an immigration attorney to help you work through this.
