Do you go thru customs and immigrations in the US airport, or just when you get to Venezuea?
im traveling to Venezuela soon, and was wondering how many times I will go thru customs and immigration,,I am a US citizen, and switching planes in Miami Florida,,and then heading to Venezuela,,and not sure of what to do once I get to Miami.. this is my first time of traveling out of the states. Thank you all for your help.
You don’t go through customs until you are in Venezuela (quick and painless)….. and then you go again when you come back into the USA… and that will when you get home. Your luggage will be inspect and you will have to go through security for the change overs (if your changing airlines) but not customs. Good luck if your changing airlines- call and figure out where you need to be and how much time you have to get through security.
So I’ll give you an outline to be clear but check with the airport.
This is assuming your flying two different airlines.
1. Check in -get ticket and check your luggage.
2. You go through security- get on plane.
3. Come off and have to go to the other airline in the building. They should forward your luggage or tell you if you need to pick it up (don’t worry transfer come faster).
4. Check in again and check your luggage if needed.
5. Go through security again.
6. Get on plane.
7. Go through customs when you get to Venezuela and unless you have fruit and a lizard on you- it’s quick and easy.
