visa vanilla gift card activation

How come my Vanilla Visa Gift Card isn’t working?
yesterday I bought three $100 vanilla visa gift cards. two of them worked perfectly fine. but the third one didn’t. i noticed the back of the card looked a little different too. i went on to www.vanillavisa.com to check my transactions. the first two said that they were activated and what time they were activated. however, the third one says nothing about an activation although the receipt (i bought it from cvs) said that it was activated.
i went back to cvs today and they gave me a new card, no questions asked. but the only thing is the guy who help me threw away the receipt! and the new one doesnt work either!
what do i do?
should i go back to cvs without a receipt?
is this normal?

Sometimes when you go to the store they need to run it differently. Some people are idiots and try to do it as a atm. They need to sometimes run it through for the exact amount and run it through as credit. If its not working I would also suggest calling the visa number on the back or going back to cvs and letting them know whats going on. This is very common and happens quite frequently. You can also go to a bank and get a cash advance with them if people cant run your transactions correctly at stores and you are desperate for the money.
